About Us

The precise mechanism by which thrombi develop in the deep veins of the leg is not known, and even less is known about their subsequent natural history. Although thrombi are said to “lyse,” it is debatable if this is ever really complete without pharmacologic assistance. It is not even known how long a thrombus has to be in contact with a venous valve before it is irretrievably damaged.
In the face of these uncertainties venousthrombosisguide.blogspot.com summarizes past theories on causation and resolution of venous thrombi and then reviews more recent clinical and experimental work that has been undertaken to try and unravel the natural history of deep venous thrombi.
